I love funny stories...and I know you do as well. I am breaking my silence with my regularly irregular post as of late (not much longer and I will be done school and things may get a little more regular around here) but I digress...You DO NOT want to miss reading this pre-teen antedote.
Last night Jellybean was getting ready for bed and was washing her face with her cleanser. I, in my bedroom, heard a strange slapping noise and poked my head out to explore the noise further. Much to the amusement of my ticklish funny bone, I saw Jellybean slapping her checks.
A strange look graced my face and I asked her with bewilderment why on earth she was not using the towel that hung upon the towel rack a mere two feet away. She quizically looked at me and replied, grabbing her jar of cleanser to show me, "Mom, it says right here to pat dry..."
Dear Lord, I have not laughed that hard in a long time; in fact, I fell to my knees, gasping for breath, struggling to finally spit out why I was laughing. When Jellybean heard why she responded herself in a way much similar to mine...
This is wedding story material...for certain.
is my family...join me on my adventure through mountains and valleys on this mothering journey as we seek to live a life well spent.

Unfulfilled Potential
With this little owie of a sickness I had this last week, I have done a lot of laying down. With that lot of laying down comes lots of opportunity to look at how my stomach looks the same as it did when I was 5-6 months pregnant (maybe I am exaggerating but people, it is not pretty).
Since Christmas, and I feel so ashamed to say this, I have had Jillian Michaels' 30 Day Shred inside my house. 2 months ago I decided I should at least take the plastic wrapping off of it...that is the extent of attention it has gotten. So...I think it is time to get off my wideload sticker, start exercising again, get myself back in shape, drink more water/less soda (which I had been until I needed to IV gingerale - you are welcome for the imagery), eat more carrots and less chocolate...
...Um, does it count if I dip the carrots in chocolate?
No? Didn't think so... here goes nothing but at the same time...here goes everything. Can we get Bob and Jillian to do a program called For the Under Enthused?

You know that piano playing chicken?
Wishing I had one of them right now. I'm thinking it would be pretty easy to teach them to type...
I am SO very sore today.
Spent all day yesterday, until 10:00 sanding and painting in the new place.
Not done.
Going back there in 20 minutes.
My arms hurt
SO
BAD...
Here chick, chick chick!!!!

Not Me Monday
Ok, so here's a different twist to Not Me Monday than I have ever seen but I just HAD to...
As I was picking Jellybean up from school today one of her friends ran up behind her and threw her hands over Jellybean's eyes. Jellybean instantly said, "Hi, Nina. I know it's you."
To which her friend replied, "Nope, it's not me."
For more, wild, wacky, and hilarious Not Me's check out MckMama's blog here.
Hooray for my first Not Me Monday on this blog!

I hate my body, now pass the cheeseball
I have begun a sub-blog to help me be accountable and to help me moderate myself on a journey I have embarked to reclaim my body. Yes, my body has been overtaken by a secret enemy. From henceforth we will refer to this enemy as The Smoosh. The Smoosh has completely taken over my belly; I haven't seen an abdomen muscle in a VERY long time. I used to have a lovely, ripped tummy area...but I digress from my focus. The Smoosh has begun to move into the areas of the thighs and the butt. No! Not the butt! Ooooh! How I despise The Smoosh!
If you are interested in supporting me or interested in joining me please hop on over to a post I did there called "I hate my body, now pass the cheeseball". I mean, really, am I the only one who will cry into a bag of doritos all the while pinching the excess on my stomach and jiggling it for my husband to see me in ALL my glory? I didn't think so.
Oh, and as far as me sharing all this embarrassing information about myself, all I can say is, your welcome. Now let me go pull my head out of the sand so I can write down a game plan...

Just a couple more days.
Really. That's all I need. A couple more days of holiday silence.
I have been working on writing another skit. This one for our New Year's Eve celebration at the church. I have completed writing it and we have had a practice.
I am pretty sure it will be business as usual once it is all done.
Unless, I get a bit too distracted once I finally get to play with my new copy of Lightroom. I haven't even had a chance to open that puppy up, yet...
I miss you! I miss you all. Don't do anything too fun without me...and if you do, make sure you write about it on your blogs so I can catch up on Friday afternoon. Ok?
Ok. I am glad we had this chance to talk.

With age comes wisdom
Words of the aged came from Jellybean's mouth this morning as she spoke to her brother...
Let me recount this incredibly wise {and cute} conversation went.
Jellybean to Bug: (as she was vaccuming) Bug, let me tell you something that I learned when I was like 7 or younger. The vaccum is too small to suck you up. It can't eat you so don't worry; you are too big.
Isn't it great when siblings share knowledge like that?
I know it warmed my heart.

Time for a little Prairie Dog slang
So, we all have them and we all use them - words and phrases that will shout to the people "she ain't from 'round here".
I thought I would share with my friends, my new internet friends, some of the words I use because after my last post, I realized there may be some confusion as to what I may be referring.
Let me present to you slang of Saskatchewan:
Back forty: a piece of land (technically 40 acres) or a field that is away from the home on a farm, or a remote location.
Bannock: (besides being absolutely delicious, especially with homemade raspberry jam) unleavened bread made using flour, water and sometimes, lard.
Bee: A co-operative work session where neighbors and family come together to complete a project. Here we use them for darn near everything - barn-raising, combining, perogy-making...
Bin: A place to store grain
Block heater: A device that allows you to plug your car into an electrical source - nothing worse than a dead car battery on a frigid prairie day.
(Do any Americans have block heaters in their cars? I know we bought a car from a friend in Kansas City, Mo and it didn't have one.)
Bunny hug: The rest of the world calls this a hoodie.
Bush party: a large teen party usually held in a field.
Coffee row: a morning coffee break. People from near and far gather at a local coffee shop for a cup and conversation. Topics usually involve weather and/or politics. Usually involve all the retired generation.
Dainties: Sweets, squares, cookies (what do you call them?)
Dugout: No, we are not about to play ball. Here in Saskatchewan it is also a farm's water supply.
Flatlander: Someone from the prairies.
Gibbled: broken, dysfunctional
Gitch: Underwear.
Grid road: A dirt road that has a gravel top.
Prairie Oysters: (disclaimer: never tried them - never will) this is, apparently a prairie delicacy of bull testicles - usually fried. (yuck)
Stubble jumper: A Saskatchewanian.
Supper: The evening meal.
Vico: a small carton of chocolate milk
Washboard: a gravel road that has many consecutive bumps, much like an old fashioned washboard. (aren't we clever?)
So? What are some of your slang words?

Drum Roll PLEASE!!!!!
The judges deliberated for many, many hours over over their FruitLoops this morning and have come back to me with their decision as to the winner of the fabulous "Name the Fish because I ran out of creativity" contest, in which the winner wins a big, fat nothing unless you count being mentioned on this blog and perhaps being able to score a CEO position by adding Namer of Fish on your resume. {Grin}
Ok, without further ado, the name of this fish
is Pearl, submitted by Melissa at Tiny Greek Goddess. Thank you all three of you, for your suggestions. Jellybean and Bug had a fantastic time deliberating.
Pearl seems to love her new name and is very relieved to not be referred to as No-name any longer.
Thanks for playing...

Never too young
I took Jellybean and Bug with me tonight when I went grocery shopping. Where else would they be, right? Anyway, totally not the point of the story.
We were passing the deli where they keep all the delicious looking sandwiches that they sell for $5 each when Jellybean had a brainwave. "Mom," she said full of excitement over her thought processes, "why don't you just buy me and Bug one of those sandwiches for our lunches and then you don't have to make us lunches anymore?! That would be so easy for you, heh?"
I didn't want to crush her really "great" idea but I took that time to explain to the kids about being good stewards of our money, then we discussed how much two of those sandwiches would be for one day of the week and then I showed and explained to her (Bug too but he wasn't really listening - what can I expect from a 6 year old boy about grocery shopping? Yawn)how much lunch stuff we could buy for that $10.
She will be getting a delicious looking egg salad sandwich tomorrow but I think this one only cost about $0.75 to make (if even that). She did get the message and you could see the "gears" turning in her head as she was figuring out what the best deal was, and as she figured it out and saw that she could have her sandwich and a package of mini oreo cakesters for lunch for way less than that one sandwich she was uber excited to go home so I could make as many sandwiches as I wanted.
P.S. I will be bringing forth all name suggestions to Jellybean and Bug tomorrow for judging and let you know of the "winner" of the unbelievable prizes as soon as I can. {Grin}
