Declutter Junkie

Oh, March has been good, when I have been up to or, home to declutter I have been on a streak!  You know, just to toot my own horn and all. {grin}

5 bags of clothes (but in all honesty, I think I may have posted this picture before).

13 towels taken to Value Village, 4 towels and 1 face cloth given to a friend and 1 towel turned into rags as it was pretty worn out.

One crockpot went to a friend who is just moving out on her own.

16 coffee mugs, 2 travel mugs and 1 water jug to Value Village.

(Not shown: 7 freebie plastic glasses from kids meals from zoos, movie theatres, etc, 1 lidless water jug, 2 travel mugless lids and 3 cracked plastic glasses.)

These Strawberry Shortcake plates are going to a little friend of Jellybean's the next time we see her.  The plate and bowl to the Bob the Builder glass have all ready gone to a little friend of Bug's and we will take him the glass.

It feels SO good to get this stuff out of here!  Plus there are a few things I have not got pictures of yet:  aflower arrangement, a piece of art that my sister gave me that just doesn't fit with our house.  AND I am going through some of my drinking glasses but most of them are in the dishwasher right now.

  1. I love decluttering! Not only do you feel super productive, but I love clearing space and reorganizing rooms. :)

  3. If I keep it up I may need some sort of intervention or we will wind up in aVERY empty house. LOL!

But we have a LONG ways to go before that happens!

  4. One of my big dreams is to be organized. That would mean getting rid of so much clutter. The more that I am bothered by clutter, the easier it is to see it go...you are an inspiration and provide great motivation for me. Thanks!

  5. I am so glad, Cheryl, that I can motivate you. I know that one of the big motivators for me, aside from it just freeing me up emotionally, visually and spiritually, is that I do strive to be organized and have a home that is a sanctuary for my family.

I also, to be completely honest, want to change my home completely so that when Rush comes to visit she doesn't think we are hanging on to things, that we have moved on in a way. I want her to feel welcome but, I don't want it to feel like her home (not right now anyway). Does that make sense or did I portray it in a way that makes me a monster? We do want for her to live here but we want her know we have moved on. I know changes to my dad's house always impacted me. ("That's not where the glasses were. Heh, that's not what the glasses looked like! I'm going to go grab a blue towe...wait a minute! They aren't blue any more?") Kinda weird, huh?

  6. Yes, I would like my home to be a sanctuary too! I know that having a five month old baby is a lot of work and takes a lot of time so I'm not looking for miracles at this point and we are eight people living in a 1,600 square foot house so I can only declutter so much, but I know I can improve.

I understand completely what you are saying about Rush. I think that it is a good thing if she knows that you are stable emotionally even if she were to never come back. It shows your reliance and trust in God and not in any earthly situation that may come up...much like my husband and I going on after our Caleb died.

We have to be an example to our children that God is capable of giving us the strength and grace to make it through difficult times and still be thankful and joyful in this life.

You are doing a beautiful job at it.

Keep cleaning and maybe I'll come along :)

    With love and hope,
    Cheryl

  7. Thank you so very much, Cheryl. I appreciate your kind and encouraging words. And yeah, you have got your plate full with having that precious baby. The decluttering can wait or you can do little spurts here and there 5 minutes, 10 minutes. It really does add up SO fast!
